During our Strasbourg meeting on May 6–7, 2025, colleagues from both corporate
and academic backgrounds in Working Groups 2 and 3 collaboratively explored the
innovative intersection of Augmented Reality (AR) and forestry.

Working Group 2 focused on the hardware systems essential for AR testing, looking
at various devices and technologies that could support AR applications in forestry.
This effort is critical, as the successful deployment of AR in real-world environments.
This important effort aims to empower professionals in forestry to make more
informed, real-time decisions, potentially enhancing sustainability efforts.

Meanwhile, Working Group 3 took a deep dive into the trends and challenges of AR
software in forestry. Further work on creating introductory materials will bridge the
gap between forestry experts and the growing AR software ecosystem.
By making AR more accessible, we aim to inspire and educate future generations of
forest managers and environmental advocates.

The final joint session concluded with an exciting look at what lies ahead. The
discussions sparked new ideas and opened the door for future collaborations,
making it clear that AR holds significant promise for forestry’s future.
